June 3, 2016 Catawba Meadows, NC Camping

Catawba Meadows Park - Morganton, NC

Went back for third time!  Love this place for our Gold Wing (GWRRA) Rally.

Spent 4 nights camping and and always had a great time. They offer water on all
sites, electric on about half and no sewer hookups.  Camping is only allowed for
special events, you can contact them for the information.

They added a couple new activities for the kids which looked great!  As you can see it was
a bit cloudy and had just stopped raining the day I took these.

Beanstalk Builders for the kids and a nice one for the adults as well!

Since they called for down pours that weekend we set up a small city:

Waiting on others to arrive

Our small city
The awnings and canopies were set up so we wouldn't get wet from camper to camper!

 I love my vintage lamp.

Bourbon taking it easy (as always)

Nap time during rain storm

For full information on activities available visit my blog from May 28, 2014, it's filled with great information on the park.

May 27, 2016 Candy Hill Campground Camping - Winchester, VA

May 27th, 2016 Memorial Day Weekend
Candy Hill Campground in Winchester, VA

It took us a little over 5 hours travel time, and worth the drive for a long weekend.  We were attending Mike's cousins wedding and could not find a hotel that would take pets.  As you all know we have a rescue toy poodle named Bourbon and who has major separation anxiety so we don't want to kennel him.  So, I said lets take the RV!  The campground is in the same town as the wedding and across the street from the hotel everyone was staying so it worked out great.

I had stopped by their booth at the Tampa RV Supershow in January for a brochure and it came in handy.   It's a small campground, but has a lot to offer.  The sites vary, some with concrete pads, some grassy and also have luxury sites which looker larger with concrete pads, and gas grills.  The luxury sites book fast so plan ahead.   We had a pull thru site in the H area. We pretty much only went back to the RV to sleep so we didn't get to spend any real time at our site. They have a nice dog park which is fenced in to let your buddies run free.   You can have a campfire, just ask for a fire ring and they will bring it to your site.

Winchester is only about 1 1/2 hours from DC which makes for a nice day trip.

We will come back to this campground.

Even though we could not attend any events the campground had to offer due to the wedding, they had a free family festival which included a craft show, demonstrating artisans, a parade, fireworks on Saturday, live music, events for kids, wagon rides, museum tours and more. The festival was to celebrate Stephens City, VA's heritage.

They have events planned all year so you can check them out and plan on camping during an event you're interested in or just plan on going and see all the sites in the area, there is a lot to do and see.  Some include:
